Adam’s got sensitive ears which means he typically carries around bulky headphones when he wants to do some mobile listening, but the new Nothing Ear (open) earbuds may just be the solution for him. Nothing’s newest earbuds don’t actually sit in your ears so they don’t feel too stuffy to wear, but is that at the sacrifice of audio quality?

  1. you guys should also cover the soundcore aerofit/ pros. They are a similar product, might be better quality i really like them.

  2. Just wanted to say Adam has been a good addition to LMG. He seemed a little inconspicuous initially, but he’s a good host and I enjoy the videos he writes for LTT.

  3. Nothing (the company) is very hit or miss for me. Have had the ear(1)s for years and absolutely love them but I know a lot of people disagree

  4. Not sure how to get Linus’ attention for a potential review of a product I think he would enjoy, but here goes. Side note, I was one of Vessi’s first round of backers on its first ever shoe, long before they started sponsoring LTT. I funded them because I believed they would make my work life easier (doctors tend to get fluids in their shoes relatively frequently), and they turned out to be a great investment. The product I’m recommending is something that has been equally game-changing for me.

I remember Linus saying he sleeps with airport and various other wireless earbuds, and it’s a pain when they fall out or their battery life dies.

I’m also an extremely sensitive sleeper and tried various earbuds, all with similar problems with falling out in the middle of the night or dying, so I initially experimented with super cheap headbands/sleeping masks with speakers built into them. They were fine, and solved the falling out problem, but would still die on me depending on how long I slept, so I had to buy 3 or 4 of them, 2 per night and a couple extras in case I forgot to charge one. Also, the built-in charging cables tended to wear out quite quickly, so I bought quite a few of them. They only cost around 10 bucks so it wasn’t the end of the world, but it was still annoying, and considering the speakers acted as pressure points when sleeping on my side, it was a mildly adequate solution at best.

The almighty ad algorithms that be, obviously knowing that I’d bought quite a lot of sleeping masks with headphones started showing me ads for Manta Sleep masks. They had a model with built-in speakers which claimed to have more than double the battery life of cheap competitors and have speakers too thin to feel while sleeping. They’re pricey at 145 USD, and I was a little skeptical at first, but I believe in investing in things if it helps my health and sleep, so I bought one, hoping I wasn’t being scammed for another me product. When it arrived and I tried it, I was amazed. Great quality mask in general, extremely comfortable, decent sound quality (I mean I’m using it to fall asleep not listen to high fidelity music so as long as the music sounds like music, it’s fine), and I could not feel the speakers at all when side sleeping. Also, if I decided to sleep for like 10+ hours or forgot to charge it for a night, no problem. The battery comfortably lasts two nights. I’ve been using mine for around 3 years now, and even got a second one JUST IN CASE I somehow forget to charge it two nights in a row. Battery life on both units is still fantastic (I suppose it helps that my morning routine has now become unplug charging cable from phone, connect it to mask, so it never reaches 0%).

I hope Linus sees this and gives the product a shot at a review so more people knows it exists, because it has genuinely changed my life, but even if he doesn’t, maybe someone else with difficulty sleeping will see this comment and give it a shot.

  5. "Just in case you need another USB-C cable" PFFFF its never good enough with people, No cable ? people complain, you get a cable people still complain. Maybe just get the option to get one or not, problem solved. but noooooo people want something to complain about and the struggle between the 2 never stops. WHY is nobody just thinking of the most obvious option, give people the choice, Do you want cable ? Yes, ok No, also ok.

  6. I never understood how people could enjoy the feeling that you’ve shoved your fingers in your ears while listening to music.

  7. Can you guys make a video about neckband earphones. I hate the goddam form factor that most companies make being the small annoying ear buds.

  8. 3:05 Regarding the ‘sound seal technology’
I watched the development video they put out for these.
This ‘sound seal technology’ they speak of is using phase inversion to cancel out whatever you’re playing.
Basically they have a second, outward facing speaker on the earbuds that plays an inversion of whatever you’re listening to so that the outward sound is deadened, at least in theory.

This is the same process behind all active noise cancellation, but just used in the opposite direction in this case. On noise cancelling headphones, they will have a microhphone picking up outside noises, and the headphones will invert that noise and play it through the speakers, deadening the outside noise.

If you want to know more about that process, search for ‘wave interference’, or specifically ‘destructive wave interference’.
This works for more than just sound waves as well, it is the case for any waveform.

This video explains the process really well

  9. I have hearing aids and they are very comfortable. I ask me why they don’t make headphones in a form factor of a hearing aid.

  10. My sony linkbuds s are real good at passthrough audio, dont need to ruin the audio quality, it also has a customisable equaliser

  11. I like the OWS Pros which are in much the same vain as this, i’ll have to give these a try as my right earbud is no longer charging

Edit: while i do like the ~20 hours of play time i get out of my OWS, its not like i cant plop them in the case on my drive home from work for an extra 4 hours, or alternate between buds like i used to do with the Sony Linkbuds

  12. The thing I don’t get is why tf don’t they have significantly better battery life than regular wireless earbuds? You have all this extra stuff going behind my ear. Put extra battery in it!

  13. I think you should try the Hyphen Aria. They’re really good, sounds awesome, looks just like a normal pair of in-ears and sits really solid in your ears.

  14. Everything from the Nothing Ear (Open) can also be found in other open-earbuds. For the very reason that my ear canals tend to get easily irritated I got the Aerofit Pro from Soundcore; impressive bass for this style of earbuds. There are cheaper sets, but personally I like the comfort, the case is compact (on the Pro version), and the sound is relatively good. I didn’t like the Tozo open-earbuds; the Aerofit Pro have replaced my Samsung Beans.

  15. nah best style earbud is the Huawei freeclip i wear them everyday all day and don’t feel them at all… its the best design never tried the bose version but that particular design is the only earbud i will ever buy ever.

  16. I have had a pair for a week now and I love em. I can just leave them on for an entire workday with no irritation, and the battery life is excellent. Will see how well that holds up but so far very satisfied.

  17. Bluetooth is always has unbearable latency for anything other than listening to music. It is a useless spec.

  18. If a guy who looks like this tells you something looks really cool you should pretty much never even think about putting it on.
