Would love to see an updated edition.
Can’t help but notice that even the fastest 65W "secret sauce" proprietary standards won’t charge much faster than regular USB-PD with a regular cable…
Thanks for quick help! This is actually simple to know once you know about it but this totally solved the issues i was having with a few chargers becuase i couldn’t really understand why quick charge worked on some and not others. Love these types of videos and know that I can trust you bro!!
Quick Charge is by far the best universally because it was designed to be cable- and connection-independent.
It is the only one that can work with ANY cable (you don’t need a special certified cable(because all cables support 3A and QC3 was designed to never use more than 3A, instead they increased the voltage)) and it can work with USB-A (which is literally the oldest and most common port), Micro USB (if you still use it) and USB-C for newer devices whereas all the other standards only work with USB-C and require specialised cables (that support 5A).
When it takes 2 days to change your phone you have to ask some questions? 🤔
And then there is Xiaomi with 200w
1:20 if a mi device. Has mi turbocharge 33w you have to use the original charger you can tell what a device charging in 33 watch if it shows a decimal point in the charge animation
Unnecessary complicated. Devices simply need a current limiting circuit and regular 2 wires pwm chargers. Usb-pd is rubbish. Pwm chargers will deliver up to max when demanded. Want quicker then buy bigger wattage. Stupid people just want to screw consumers.
❤
wait so if my charger can deliver the wattage required to fast charge my phone but it doesn’t have the required charging standard, then my phone won’t fast charge?
That’s ridiculous!
I’ve had Super VOOC Charging on my Oppo P5 for a few months and it charges _Concerningly_ Fast! My Phone has got 2 LiPo Cells inside, which must help with longevity?

Great Scott ! 1.21 Gigawatt !
Very informative
Is supervooc supported by usb pd?
Wuckert Harbors
Google tells me PD is faster than QC
You didn’t explain anything!! I expected to watch a video explaining how each protocol works
Warpcharge is superior to all the other fast charge protocols. It raises the amps instead of the volts and the regulation is done in the wall-charger instead of in the phone itself. Keeping the phone cooler while charging. I went from a Oneplus phone to a Pixel 7 pro and the downgrade in quickcharge is noticeable. USB PD at 20W runs the phone hotter than 35W Warpcharge. And it’s slower ofcourse. Warpcharge btw pretty much is Oppos VOOC technology.
How abt PPS ?
I have an Oppo Find X5 and it has 80W Supervooc charging which is awesome but what sucks is that it can only go this fast with Vooc chargers so Oppo, Oneplus or Realme chargers are needed.
I tried using a 120W Xiaomi charger that can output the same 11V 6A that a 65W Supervooc charger does yet it was still charging much slower.
Samsung has been using PPS as charging standard for years.
2:04 Little did Linus know he would soon enough be "rocking one of those collectables."
What about Huawei SuperCharge?
So i wont be able to find a angeled cable for a OnePlus charger? That supports fast charge
Jeez, they already have USB PD, I swear some are just making their own to sell their own special chargers. Whether that’s choosing not to include them, thanks Apple(yes it’s e-waste, but we know it’s really about money), or needing to buy an extra one for the office, travel, etc. If there was one standard that performed the best on all phones you could just buy an overpowered charger for that standard and be set for all future phones to charge as fast as possible. I guess at least USB PD works and charges fast enough, just dumb that companies like anker need to jump through hoops to support them all while possibly not being allowed to officially label themselves as USB PD or the like because of how the standards work.
Hello, guys, I am wondering what a good charger would be for the DJI battery hub?
Xiaomi can do 120w and 240w. But somehow got skipped in the video
Where does ankers iq 3.0 fit into this
Hello I’m from the future: Realme is the new king of fast charging at 240 watts.
Nokia Phones are a thing of the past basically no longer exist
i never wished for regulations more, why cant we all be a big happy family and have just one adaptive type of charging
oneplus oppo and realme use the same charging tech and are cross compatible
Is it safe to buy a 3rd party charger as long as it features charging technology compatible with the devices mentioned in this video?
0to48V – 0to20A auto PPS can cover all proprietary protocols supports
So there are over 6 types of USB-C charging protocols, and most of them are not compatible with each other, what a mess.
Great stuff, Linus, why oh why do they have to do this to us? Just have different cable colours/charger colours and we would all know where we stood without having to do a BSc in charging. Thanks.
Xiaomi with HyperCharge technology in Redmi Note 12 Pro+ (120W) and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ Discovery Edition (210W):
I think I’m confused after watching the this video 😂
Amazon ALI esa 2:30 lmao
What about Mi Turbo Charge fron Xiaomi?
If you didn’t think Usb-c was a mess
3:30 Meanwhile Infinix with 180 watt Thunder Charge: 😂
Imagine calling any other brand than apple a "collectible" 😂what an idiot
The current state of charging devices and the devices that need faster charging is way too early for me to even consider upgrading ANYTHING. I’ll wait for a year or so when these products sort themselves out. May the winner take all!
I’ve been using Chargie for a while now, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for my phone’s battery. It stops my phone from staying at 100% all night, which I heard is pretty bad for battery health. Instead, it keeps the charge between 20-80%, and I’ve noticed my phone doesn’t get as hot while charging either. There’s also a slow-charging option if you prefer that, which is awesome for overnight charging. If you’re trying to make your battery last longer, I totally recommend giving Chargie a shot. It works with both iOS and Android too
To the point, thanks
These are all ancient technology, how about huawei sc protocol 66w low end, 88w wireless, 100w wired charging on high end model, xiaomi 120w wired charging, non of these mentioned.
Is it really true? does usb c charge faster than micro usb? Yes….. but…. you can get devices to charge faster using the red port (fast charging port) instead of green, however that can be bad if your device does not support fast charging. I have an X-Dragon 25,000 power bank with two usb ports, micro and type-c, but nowhere does it say the device can be charged using a fast charging port. So I guess using a type-c is like an in the middle step up from micro toward fast charger port, and a type-c in the fast charging port is most powerful of all, if supported.
